Hearth & Hollow 1.4.5
Version 1.4.5
- Support, terms, the setup guide and the theme's links now point to Ymanuehl Store (ymanuehlstore.com); the demo moved to hearth.ymanuehlstore.com.
- Home slideshow: up to 5 slides (was 3), with Add, Move up / Move down, Hide and Remove; 5 designs (Full photo, Text card, Side by side, Framed, Short banner); text on the left, centre or right per slide; light, medium or strong shade; slide timing (4 to 10 seconds, or never). A live preview beside the form shows changes as you type, on a computer or a phone, before saving. An empty button text now leaves the button out. Slideshows saved with an earlier version look the same until changed.
- Journal articles: 3 layouts to choose from in Hearth settings (Centred, Left-aligned, Large photo), with a preview link. Centred stays the default.
- A menu too long for the header (many or long items) goes behind the menu button instead of running over the logo; menus that fit are unchanged.
- Very long product names or words break onto the next line instead of pushing the page sideways on phones; product names over 60 characters get a smaller title on the product page (filter hearth_long_title).
- Stores in other currencies: the wishlist, the free-shipping bar, the cart drawer and the price filter boxes now write and read prices in the store's own format (for example 1.249,50 €), not always "$" with a dot.
- Right-to-left languages: pages no longer scroll sideways by 10,000 px (the forms' hidden spam trap is clipped instead of moved off-screen), and slideshow text stays on the side chosen in the editor.
- Shop filters on phones and tablets: the option buttons are 44 px tall including their padding (they were about 60 px, and short ones looked round).
- Neutral texts for a new store: the announcement bar, trust list, delivery text, home page story, intro and three reasons, footer details and slideshow no longer mention US shipping, Portland or candles. The demo import (and Remove demo content) put the demo shop's own texts in and take them out again; texts the owner changed are never touched.
- A line or announcement that mentions the free-shipping amount is left out while no free-shipping minimum is set in WooCommerce (it showed "over" with nothing after it).
- The header menu is built from the store the first time (Shop, its top categories, the journal and the Sale page); the demo import adds the demo's menu instead, until the owner edits the menu.
- Footer: the Shop column lists the store's own categories, links to pages the store does not have are left out, and a column with no links left disappears. Header search: neutral placeholder, and "Popular searches" are the store's busiest categories.
- The "Sample reviews" note on the home page shows only while Demo mode is on.
- Clean shop address: Back and Forward return to the filters of each step, and a refresh on page 2 or later keeps the filters (both showed the whole shop before).
- Back from a product page returns to the filtered shop.
- Shop search: the box empties after "Clear all filters", the same word can be searched again, and "Clear all filters" also shows for a search on its own.
- No results: "clearing any filters" clears the search too (it kept it, so the empty page came back).
- A search that matches nothing keeps the filters in the sidebar (they all disappeared); choosing a filter then drops that search and shows products.
- "Updating products..." shows a proper ellipsis (a broken character showed as a box and a 6) and only appears when an update takes longer than 0.4 seconds.
- Shop search also finds products by material, colour, category and tag ("cotton" finds everything made of cotton, "moss" the products that come in moss), not only by the words in their name and description.
- Instant preview: ticking a filter or moving the price range fades the products on screen that no longer match straight away, while the real results load (shops of up to 300 products).
- The sidebar search starts sooner after typing (0.3 s instead of 0.45 s).
- Shop sidebar: all WooCommerce filters on by default (Price, Category, Material, Colour, Size, Rating, Tags, Availability); a filter only shows when products use it. "Clear all filters" also clears Category and Tags.
- Attribute filters find their attribute by name (Material, Colour or Color, Size), so they work on stores whose attribute IDs differ from the demo; a missing attribute is left out.
- Colour filter buttons are filled with their colour, with the name in dark or white for contrast.
- Colour swatches for any colour: pick one per colour in Products > Attributes > Colour (Hearth Core), and common colour names (Black, Navy, Sage...) get one automatically.
- Home page offer band follows the Multi-buy offer in Hearth settings and hides itself while it is off (it was fixed text); its heading and welcome coupon are settings.
- Sorting: "Featured" renamed "Recommended" (it is your own order), plus Name A to Z and Z to A.
- Price boxes take numbers only (letters are dropped as you type or paste), show the number keypad on phones, and put the price back if left empty; their focus outline is no longer cut off at the bottom.
- Focus outlines only for keyboard users: clicking or tapping a button, slide control, product or link no longer leaves an outline around it; pressing Tab still shows one (round on round controls). Text boxes keep their focus ring.
- My account: the signed-in menu sits beside the dashboard again (WooCommerce's float-clearing elements had pushed it into the wrong grid cell), the page uses the title's width and lines up with it, menu items are compact, Addresses show as two matching cards, Account details help text and the password box are styled, and the Downloads tab only shows when the store sells downloads.
- Sign-in page: "Sign in" heading and button, normal-size labels, theme-style rounded inputs at 17px (no zoom on phones), aligned checkbox and links, card aligned under the title.
- Logo mark: removed the off-white box and the drop shadow baked into the image, which showed as a thin vertical line next to the logo.
- Menus: Appearance > Menus is a simple Hearth page (one row per link, dropdowns with "Show under", reorder, add, remove; suggestions from your pages and categories), editing a saved "Header menu" that the header uses and that survives theme updates. WordPress's own menu editor is one click away.
- Header and footer layouts: Appearance > Hearth settings > Header and footer, with a picture and a Preview link for each. Headers: Classic, Centered, Split, Minimal, Two rows (with a full search bar). Footers: Classic, Light, Links first, Centered, Simple. One header and one footer underneath, so content is edited once and every layout keeps theme updates.
- Tablets (600 to 1023px): the menu sits behind its button (the full menu was squeezed and wrapped next to the logo, and the button showed as well).
- Slideshow: the active slide indicator on phones and tablets is a thin bar again (it showed as a large white blob).
- Variable products fit 320px screens (the options form was 2px too wide); the product page sale badge says "Sale" like the product cards.
- 14 ready-made sections (block patterns) under "Hearth & Hollow" in the inserter: banner, story, three reasons, product rows (newest, on sale, featured), FAQ, image with text, promo tiles, journal row; with Hearth Core also category tiles, offer band, testimonials and newsletter.
- Home page and footer texts in Hearth settings: the story (with its three facts and button), the three reasons to buy, and the footer's about text, contact, address and hours, payment methods and note. The theme's blocks read them through a block binding; empty fields fall back to the template text. The copyright year and shop name fill themselves; the demo note only shows in Demo mode.
- Remove demo content (Appearance > Import demo content): moves the demo products ("HH-" SKUs), marked pages, demo journal articles, sample testimonials and unused demo coupons to the Trash, turns off the demo offers and resets home/journal page settings that pointed at them; a separate button deletes the demo photos. Turned off on the theme's own demo store.
- Logo settings (Hearth settings > Logo): logo width (20 to 240 px; phones cap it at 130 px) and "show the logo only" for logos that contain the shop name (the logo then carries the shop name for screen readers).
- Phones: the header fits from 320px (the cart icon was pushed off screen and the page scrolled sideways, which also oversized the filter panel). 16px page margin below 400px.
Version 1.4.4
- Filters stay in the address by default again (refresh, Back and shared links keep them); a clean /shop/ address is an option in Hearth settings > Shop address.
- Category buttons keep the chosen filters; their counts hide while filters are on.
- "Updating products" disappears as soon as the new results are in (it could stay up to 20 seconds).
- No background loading of every category at once (it caused bursts of requests); a category loads early only when the pointer rests on it.
Version 1.4.3
- Shop search box narrows the product grid in place (no results list on the shop), works with categories, filters and sorting; Escape clears it.
- "Updating products" only appears when something really changes (not when clicking into the search box or opening a filter section); clicking the current category does nothing.
- Many categories: the first 7 buttons show, the rest open with "+ N more" (filter hearth_chips_visible); phones scroll through all of them.
- Sale banner figures are saved for up to 6 hours (or until the next sale ends) so large shops stay fast.
Mainstay 1.3.0
Version 1.3.0
- Quote form questions from settings: rename questions 1 and 2, edit the "When" answers, show or hide the details box, email, ZIP and "best way to reach you", and add up to 5 extra questions (text or choice buttons; end a line with * to make it required). Extra answers are saved, emailed and listed with the others.
- Several locations: one per line in Mainstay settings > Business > Locations, shown by the new Locations block as cards with a directions link, and added to Google's business details.
- Online booking: a booking link in settings and the new Booking block show your Calendly, Cal.com, Acuity, Square or Setmore calendar on the page, with a fallback link.
- 2 more ready-made sections: Our locations, and Book online (16 in all).
Version 1.2.0
- Reviews layouts: Grid, Slider (cards that slide, with arrows), Spotlight (one large review at a time) and List. Site default in Mainstay settings; each Reviews block can choose its own in the editor.
- Quote form layouts: Step by step, or All on one page. Site default in Mainstay settings; each form block can choose its own.
- Remove demo content: one button moves the demo pages, services, reviews and articles to the Trash, optionally deletes the demo photos, and turns off demo mode.
- WhatsApp: an optional number in settings adds a WhatsApp button to the phone bar and the contact details.
- "See all our reviews on Google" under the reviews when a Google Business Profile link is set.
- Demo sites: the "Try a design" panel also switches the reviews and form layouts, and is a small round button on phones so it never covers the page.
- The phone bar keeps every label on one line on small phones.
Version 1.1.0
- 5 designs to choose from in Mainstay settings > Home page > Design: Classic, Split, Bold centre, Clean light and Emergency (hero layout, buttons and band).
- New colour style: Signal (charcoal and red), as well as Default, Clinic, Forest and Ember.
- 5 new one-click demos besides plumbing: electrician, heating and cooling (HVAC), roofing, locksmith and cleaning service, each with its own business, services, reviews, pages, articles and photos (CC0, StockSnap).
- Demo sites show a "Try a design" switcher so visitors can try every design and colour style while they browse (only while demo mode is on).
- The top bar never breaks the emergency line or the phone number across lines.
